Tired of politicians telling you how to party? This is your chance to make yourself heard. Party animals from across the country have come together for One Night Stand, a protest gig spread between Mumbai, Goa and Baroda, that will raise awareness on rules and laws that politicians have implemented on nightlife activities.

The idea of the protest gig came about as a reaction to the infamous Mangalore incident. "We want to organise One Night Stand as a big 'f**k you!' to the politicians and moral police brigade who want to put an end to the nightlife scene in the country. So we're calling girls and boys out to a One Night Stand," says Luke Sequeira in a telephonic interview from Goa, one of the main organisers of the event. By One Night Stand he doesn't mean a sexual, but a musical encounter.
In keeping with the theme of the evening, the music will incline towards alternative style DJ Pramz will play minimal, techno, tech-house at Zenzi, Lower Parel and DJ Amul and DJ Ishani will spin hip hop, R'n'B, Bboy breaks and House at Zenzi, Bandra.
"We want to send out a message to those who are in power that there is a significant bunch of young voters who consider this an important issue that must be addressed," says Kenneth. Luke adds, "The Ram Sene had threatened to attack the club scene in Goa too, but we worked with the politicians to ensure that they're not allowed entry into the state. We want to spread news like this to other parts of the country."
Party spoilers
In Baroda, the prohibition on liquor is an effective ban on nightlife.
In Bangalore, the ban on dancing in nightclubs has stunted the clubbing scene.
In Hyderabad, actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi has promised that if his party comes into power they will implement a liquor-ban, like the one deployed in Baroda.
