RJ Rakesh Kumar tells you why he's often described as 'encounter specialist'

I remember someone saying, "If you make a blunder, nobody gives a damn unless you are a celebrity". And that 'someone' is me! I seem to have cultivated the habit of framing and shooting one liners in the air in my inimitable style! (All thanks to the rocking new segment, Fatafat Line Maaro, every morning at 8am on Bengalooru Fatafat.)

Going back to my line about celebrities, with the number of encounters Prithvi and I've had with celebs in the last couple of days, we could easily be called Encounter Specialists. Here's a sample:

We call singer Shibani Kashyap just to ask her which song namma Bengalooru should use to mobilise voters for the upcoming elections, andu00a0 she croons,u00a0 Sajanaaaaaaaa..... vote daaaallllllll..... (Man! Are we so charming or what???).

Next, we tried to work our charm on cricketer Syed Kirmani. We dared to ask him if he sees any connection between India winning the New Zealand series and their brand new dark blue jerseys. He stumped us with, "It's you media guysu00a0 whou00a0 find such connections. For cricketers, the game is above all this." We quietly ended the call.

The next day, we rose from the dust and called Sandalwood actress Sharmila Mandre. We promised to gift her a holiday to her favourite shooting destination Kulu Manali only to reveal that we were just kidding.

Then came Vasundara Das on the show. We requested her to sing. And she took about 90 odd seconds just to decide on her song. And she claims that she finished her exams papers on time! Now this is something Prithvi can never talk about. He still has his 5th std Social Science supplementary paper to clear. His exam is on Friday. Please wish him good luck by mailing him at bang@radioone.in. In the subject line, please do not forget to mention, 'Pappu CAN'T paas sala...' oops, sorry, 'Pappu CAN paas sala...'

The writer is Producer/RJ at 94.3 Radioone
