Abarahams is currently soaking in Indian sounds and culture, while collaborating with some of the most exciting musicians on the Indian independent music circuit. The musician believes African and Indian musicians share a common background. "I see some of the most beautiful people in our countries on the streets. Over the centuries, our people have been through a lot of suffering but when we sing, we are happy.
In these modern times it is one of my dreams to bring African and Indian musicians together. Our music is from the streets and we have real stories to tell." His co-performer, Paul, says about Abraham: "He has fought many fights as a musician in his part of the world. Yet there is deep honesty and love for life in his music. His energy has to be seen to be believed! He carries the soul of his culture in him."
After a successful concert in Mumbai where Abrahams collaborated with Paul, a keyboardist/composer with The Pulp Society, Adrian D'Souza (drums) and DJ Nath(bass) he is keen on performing in Pune. Jonathan says, "The gig will feature many artistes but the core group will be -- Adrian, DJ Nath and myself." The performance will also feature guest performances by The Pulp Society's Imaad Shah (vocals / guitar) and Anand Bhagat (percussions).
Being part of The ChosenOnes Project has been an enriching experience for all the musicians. Paul agrees, "Everyone from The Pulp Society is committed towards combining our skills, creating something positive out of this project and getting better together. Working with African musicians has been exciting and unique a cultural experience for us. What we can achieve together, we cannot do on our own."
