The college authorities have taken the land from BBMP for a period of 99 years in 1949. A few days back, they took permission from the BBMP to buildu00a0a block for the college. The local developer, Sridhar, who was opposed to this, protested this along with his associates.
Based on a complaint by the college, the Frazer Town police rushed to the spot and provided protection to the construction work. Additional platoons have been deployed to monitor law and order situation.
Reason for protest
The protestors led by Sridhar contended that the college is violating BBMP rules, but sources said they have vested interests.
According to the sources, there is a commercial complex owned by Bharatinagar ex-MLA, Nirmal Surana, who wanted a part of the college property to make an entrance to his commercial complex.
When the college authorities refused, Sridhar who is a staunch supporter of Surana, protested. Frazer Town ACP B B Ashok Kumar said the college has got valid permission for the construction.u00a0
