Hours after the slain builder's family met RR Patil, the victim's brother received a phone call and SMS telling him that his nephew the deceased builder's son Sunny would be killed if he didn't stop talking to the media
Even as the state’s Home Minister RR Patil assured murder victim Sunil Loharia’s family yesterday that he would look into the case and take necessary action, Sunil’s brother Sanjeet received a fresh spate of threats.

This was the second time that the family received threats since the murder, which was committed on Saturday. On Monday, Sandip Loharia alias Sunny, son of the deceased, had registered an FIR with Turbhe police against an unidentified caller. Sunny claimed that the caller had threatened to eliminate the entire family if his name was discussed in the media in relation to the murder.
Sunny and other members of the Loharia family met Patil last morning. “Patil assured us that they would look into the matter. He promised that if the police fails to probe the matter properly, he will hand over the case to another agency or form a special investigating team,” said Sunny. Around 12.10 pm, Sunil’s brother Sanjeet Loharia received a threat call. The caller told him that if his nephew (Sunny) did not stop talking to the media about his father’s death, he would be killed.u00a0
Sunny immediately informed the deputy commissioner of police and cops at Turbhe police station. A police team reached the Loharia residence. Even as the police were taking a statement from Sanjeet, he received a text message on his phone, which read: ‘If Sunny does not stop speaking to the media, he will be sent to his father.”
According to Sunny, the call was made from a local mobile number. He claimed that the number was registered under Suresh Bijlani’s name. Bijlani, who was allegedly Loharia’s rival, is the prime suspect in the case. His role in the murder is being investigated. “We registered a fresh FIR. Loharia’s family has lodged a complaint against Bijlani. The matter is under investigation,” said Suresh Bhosale, senior inspector, Turbhe police station. Former encounter specialist Emmanuel Samuel Amolik, Wajid Qureshi and Venkatesh Shettiar have been arrested for the murder.u00a0
