MSRTC to start daily semi-sleeper buses to Nagpur

Beginning Thursday, people in the city frequenting the state's second capital Nagpur will soon have reason to cheer, as the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has decided to start daily Shivneri Volvo semi-sleeper services on the route.

Beginning Thursday, people in the city frequenting the state's second capital Nagpur will soon have reason to cheer, as the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has decided to start daily Shivneri Volvo semi-sleeper services on the route.u00a0






"We realised that Nagpur is also a developing city and there are already regular MSRTC non-AC semi luxury buses on the Pune-Nagpur route, which ply on full capacity," said an MSRTC official, requesting anonymity.u00a0
There will be daily bus services at 7 pm from the city that will reach Napur around 7 am. The bus will have a seating capacity of 41 and the ticket will cost Rs 1,210.u00a0

The non-AC services will ply at 1 pm, 4 pm, 5 pm and 6.30 pm from the Shivajinagar Bus Depot and reach Nagpur in exactly twelve hours. The buses will be travelling through Ahmadnagar, Aurangabad, Jalna, Akola, Amravati and finally Nagpur. The MSRTC will also start its daily Shivneri services to Ahmedabad and Surat from Borivli. u00a0

Shivajinagar Deputy Depot Manager Ramesh Shelot said that about 100 passengers ply between the two cities everyday and the number is bound to increase in the coming months.u00a0Sixteen people were charred to death on November 28 at the Chincholi Bari Phata in Buldhana district when two buses had a head on collision around 3 am. While 10 of the passengers killed were travelling to Nagpur in Royal Travels, the rest were travelling to the city in Saini Travels.u00a0
