Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh state assembly was adjourned for indefinite period on Wednesday on the third day of its Monsoon Session over the opposition's demand for state Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's resignation over the Vyapam scam.

The adjournment came amid commotion which erupted as soon as the proceedings started on the third day of the monsoon session that was set to continue till July 31.

The first two days of the Monsoon Session also witnessed adjournments due to the uproarious scenes in the assembly.

On Wednesday, the opposition parties -- Congress and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) -- continued with sloganeering and their demand for Chouhan's resignation.

BSP legislators arrived at the assembly wearing blue aprons reading messages "Khooni Vyapam Ghotaley ke Doshi Shivraj Singh Istifa Do (Bloody Vyapam scam's culprit Shivraj Singh quit)".

Just as the assembly proceedings commenced, Congress and BSP members raised slogans and trooped to the assembly speaker's podium, prompting heated exchange of arguments between the ruling Bharatiya Janata party legislators and the protesting opposition members.

After suspending the assembly's proceedings twice, it was decided to indefinitely adjourn the house.

Anticipating commotion, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Narottam Mishra proposed adjourning the house for indefinite period and it was accepted by Speaker Sita Sharan Sharma.

Mishra later blamed the opposition for not letting the house run, saying: "The government was ready for a discussion on every issue but it was Congress which kept running away from it."
