Rheumatoid arthritis, a chronic and more serious form of the disease, too, is less understood and relatively under-explored. "India has almost 150 rheumatologists as compared to Austria where for a population of 8 million there are 200 rheumatologists," says Dr Prof Josef Smolen, one of the world's most renowned and internationally acclaimed clinical rheumatologists and immunologists, who was recently in India to attend the Third National Rheumatology Symposium.

So, this time over, the Indian Rheumatology Association has decided to launch an awareness and treatment project that's worth being part of. Called Let's Work Together, it aims to address the most major causes of the disease, raise consciousness, ensure patient advocacy and empowerment, foster better research in the field of rheumatic diseases, and nip it in the bud.
