Missing guests
At the well-attended recent wedding of the daughter of Raj Kumar Dhoot (brother of Venugopal Dhoot of the Videocon family) held in Delhi to a scion of the Sarafs, the presence of some of the country's top politicians like Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Congress leaders Anand Sharma and Kamal Nath, and Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray was not a surprise: after all the father of the bride, besides belonging to an industrialists' clan, is also a Shiv Sena MP and protocol requires such civilities.

Even the towering presence of Bajaj patriarch Rahul Bajaj was expected, as the Dhoots and the Bajajs go back many decades. "In fact, what was surprising were some of the big ticket banking luminaries who chose to stay away," says a source. "In all the earlier family weddings one would always see the banking elite in attendance," she says, adding, "Wonder why they didn't come this time?"
The next Modi generation
IPL architect and founder Lalit Modi has rubbed many people the wrong way, and has been called many things, but there is no denying that he takes his role as a proud father and loving husband very seriously constantly posting pictures of his children and family get-togethers. And word comes in that Lalit's son, Ruchir, who recently graduated from college in London and has been frequently spotted in India (recently he was captured on his way to the Coldplay after party at SRK's Mannat), has launched his first venture as part of the family owned 'Modi Ventures' investment arm.

He has invested in a new digital app, Ufirst, which provides fast track access to airports, sporting events, clubs, restaurants and museums. "My son Ruchir Modi's new investment company Modi Ventures. Proud of u to have signed your first deal with Ufirst - may it rock." Lalit had posted on social media when the deal was signed. And now word comes in that Ufirst has tied up with the Sunburn festival to sell exclusive VIP access to the festival and parties this December in Pune.
Wedding blues
News comes in that one of the highest profile, recent, big fat destination weddings held up North, had an unexpected visitor in the form of a nasty stomach bug that felled over a hundred of the marque guests who'd flown in from all over the world.
"With at least 50 of those taking ill pretty seriously, one of the most sought after guests happened to be a celebrated doctor who found his professional services required by the famous guests, many of them who'd been his patients earlier," said one of the attendees who had been spared. "Of course no one's taken the caterers to task for likely food poisoning, but given the level of famous personalities affected, heads will roll for sure."
Saturday White
Saturday night all roads led to the NSCI's Dome for the Club White pop-up party, put together by the Morani's Cineyug Entertainment, and the younger Morani generation's 'Rage Entertainment'. Club White has become a sensation over the past couple of years and is Dubai's hottest nightspot. Located at the rooftop of the racecourse, the club resembles a concert arena with a large bar in the centre and multiple stages for acrobats and live performers.

And word comes in that the Mumbai edition didn't disappoint, but also doubled the size of its Dubai original with a packed house and reportedly 5,000 people in attendance, till the early hours of Sunday morning. Mohammed Morani, who along with his brother Karim, was a fixture behind the DJ console, watched the sheer grandeur of the production unfold.
Spotted at the venue was newcomer Harshvardhan Kapoor. Shraddha Kapoor, who missed the event took to social media and posted, "Heard Mumbai had its best party ever last night! Congratulations Rage Entertainment & Cineyug for making this happen & I hope I am there next time to join in the fun."
