Chennai: Chennai-based management consultant K.S. Narendran was a shattered man Saturday as his wife Chandrika was on the Malaysia Airlines MH370 flight that went missing with 239 passengers and crew.

He is praying for the good news - that his wife is alive and safe - from the Malaysia Airlines authorities.

"He and his family is shattered. He is not in a mental make-up to answer his phone. His wife Chandrika was on the Malaysia Airlines plane that is said to have crashed," N. Venugopal of the International Collective in Support of Fishworkers (ICSF), a non-governmental organisation (NGO), told IANS.

Chandrika headed ICSF as its executive secretary.

"The couple has one daughter who is studying in New Delhi," Venugopal said.

He said Chandrika is a hardworker and a friendly person.

"She had gone to attend a conference organised by Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) in Mongolia," Venugopal said.

Meanwhile, Malaysian Transport Minister Hishamuddin Hussein said Saturday that no sign of any plane wreckage was found and denied earlier media reports that the plane had crashed south of an island off Vietnam.

The Boeing B777-200 aircraft, departed Kuala Lumpur at 12:41 a.m. Saturday and was expected to land in Beijing at 6:30 a.m. the same day.

The Malaysia Airlines, in a statement, said the company is working with international authorities on the search and rescue mission of the aircraft.
