A man and his son were attacked by seven miscreants last night in Koregaon Park. Saidvikar Ahmad Shah (54), a shop owner, and his son Afsar Ahmad Shah (20), were beaten up over previous enmity by residents of building number 5 at lane A near German Bakery around 10.30 pm yesterday.
PSI from Bundgarden police station Mohini Sonar,u00a0 said that both Saidvikar and his son had gone for a stroll after having supper.
On the pretext of purchasing a ring from Saidvikar's store, two youths tried to enter his shop but Saidvikar's refused.
u00a0"Five youngsters suddenly came in a rickshaw with sticks in their hand and started beating Saidvikar by taking him near Executive Restaurant area near Building No 8 at A Lane," said Manzoor Ahmad, a worker in Saidvikar's shop.
Saidvikar sustained serious head injuries and Afsar, who intervened to save his father, also suffered a few blows to his head.
u00a0Both were admitted to a nearby private hospital in Koregaon Park. Saidvikar, who is in the ICU, got 10 stitches on his head and is reported to be in a critical state. Afsar was discharged from the hospital after giving first aid.u00a0
u00a0No arrests have been made so far, but the police are inquiring about Aarati Sutar and her friend Sahil in the case. Stones were hurled at Saidvikar's shop two months ago and this incident seems to be an extension of it, said PSI Sonar. "This is probably the society politics where Saidvikar is staying."u00a0
