City police have been having sleepless nights over a pickpocket with a long list of cases to his name. Parvez (38) of Goripalya is on the police list as the most wanted pickpocket as he is accused of over 110 theft cases.

Though the police have arrested him over ten times in the past, he always succeeded in getting bail. Police claim to have recovered 45 mobile phones and nearly Rs 1 lakh so far and have branded him a proclaimed offender, but that does not stop him from his crime spree.

According to the police, Parvez has been active in anti-social activities and serial pick pocketing since 2005, and is absconding from his home and has been staying at a different location each day to evade arrest. Police have learned through investigations that his modus operandi is to act like an honest citizen and get close to unsuspecting victims.

The police on contacting Parvez's parents learned that he did not leave any number or address where he could be contacted and they have not seen him for the past four months. Recently,u00a0 Vijayanagar police arrested some of his associates and got to know about his presence in city. Police sources have said that he is an expert at evading, but added that it is just a matter of time before they apprehend him.

Parvez is suspected to be training associates to target travellers and tourists stayingu00a0 at cheap hotels near the city railway station and Majestic bus stand. Also, the massive train yard and empty goods coaches provide shelter andu00a0u00a0u00a0 doubles up an ideal hiding place for the criminals.

PI, Lokeshwar, Upparpet police station said, "Parvez is the most wanted pickpocket in the city and we haveu00a0 earlier arrested him 10 times. We recovered more than 45 cell phones and cash, which have been returned to the rightful owners so far. We have produced the accused in court several times, but he always manages to secure bail through his lawyer and continues committing offences. We have begun investigations and will soon catch him."
