Haridwar: A mass cleaning of the Ganga ghats will take place next week.

The All World Gayatri Pariwar in Haridwar said in a statement that the "Nirmal Ganga Jan Abhiyan" will be carried out on September 20 across 300 big and small ghats in various states.

The campaign, in its fourth year, will cover 152 ghats in Uttar Pradesh, 52 in Bihar and many in Uttarakhand including in Uttarkashi, New Tehri, Karnprayag, Shrinagar, Rishikesh and Haridwar.

"The motive is to have a mass awakening to keep the Ganga river clean," the statement said.
