Locating Grand Hometel's Stardust Bar, and Flavours restaurant in Malad, is like looking for an oasis in a desert of IT, BPO and financial offices.
Stardust was close to empty even on a Saturday night. The bar lies bang in this middle of the room, with the DJ console at the extreme right. Hip-hop was the flavour of the night.
Food and drinks: While the Rosemary Chicken Bhatti Grilled (Rs 195) starter was delicious, the Stuffed Mushroom Caps (Rs 135) could have done with some taste or spice. If you are in the mood for a cocktail, we suggest the refreshing Lime Time (Rs 150). Skip the Margarita (Rs 250); tough to taste the booze in a volcano of ice. If you drop in during Happy Hours (12 noon to 8 pm), you buy a drink and get the next free.
Flavours, the restaurant: It was a completely different deal at Flavours, which scored big on food and service.
We loved the Bengali-style Pomfret (Rs 375), and the Chicken Tikka Malai (Rs 255).
Prices: Expect to shell out some serious moolah if you choose to go a la carte. We paid Rs 2,089 for two starters, two gravies, rice, roti and juices. The lunch or dinner buffet is priced at an affordable Rs 333 and Rs 375 respectively.u00a0u00a0u00a0
Service: The staff is quick and attentive they switched off the AC when they noticed we weren't comfortable.
