The city got some respite from the heat with the pre-monsoon showers last week, but don't yet raise your hopes about the real thing arriving today or tomorrow.
After the monsoon failed to hit the city yesterday, the Met admitted the monsoon had been delayed a bit this year. According to predictions, the monsoon should have arrived in the city on June 7. Met officials now say the city will start getting full-fledged monsoon showers only by June 12.
"Monsoon has arrived in Karnataka. It is advancing into Karwar. It will reach Goa, Konkan and central Maharashtra soon," said Medha Khole, director, weather central, Meteorological Department, Pune.
Khole added that pre-monsoon showers would continue for 48 hours in the city.
"We are behind schedule this year, but we will get at least 98 per cent of the predicted rainfall," said Khole.
