Navnath Nivritti Chatur (25), a military driver, was killed when he lost control over his motorbike and fell on the road near Bopdev Ghat on Saswad Kondhawa road yesterday. Chatur sustained serious head injuries despite wearing a helmet. He was admitted to Sassoon hospital by a Kondhawa resident, but was declared dead on arrival.u00a0

Chatur was a military driver with the Military Intelligent Training School. He had a good track record as van driver for Army Supply Corps since the last 10 years.u00a0

His father Nivritti (65) said that Chatur had just got engaged on Sunday evening and his marriage date had been fixed. He had gone to the Wanawadi office to give the good news and was going to a colleague's place to invite him for the wedding on January 20.

After the post mortem, Chatur's body was taken to his native village Khed Nandgiri in Satara District for cremation. Chatur has three brothers Ramesh, Somnath and Shankar. A case has been registered at the Kondhawa police station.
