C'mon baby, light my choir
The hills are alive with the sound of music… or the islands actually, and one island in particular. The Colaba ALM, My Dream Colaba (MDC) is all set to host Christmas carol singing around a traffic island at Pandey Chowk (Colaba) near the post office. This traffic island got a culture infusion recently when it saw the installation of a sculpture by artist Paresh Maity. Now, The Bombay Baptist Church Choir will sing carols at the island on December 15 at 7 pm. MDC claims it is time to enjoy the magic of the season under twinkling stars. Tuesday traffic may be brought to a halt but we think the initiative is a brave and welcome way to reclaim Mumbai’s streets. Recently, we have seen residents claiming the streets and traffic islands as their own with cultural initiatives — sculpture, art and tree art. Now, if music is added to that mix, can we say more power to Colaba carols?
