The crime branch has managed to crack a case of kidnapping within a few hours of the case coming to light. The incident took place around 12.30 am today. Suraj Soni, 21, a jewellery designer, had visited a Dadar restaurant with a woman friend late last night. According to the police, after dinner, Soni went to the rest room and the woman left for home. Around 1.30 am, Soni called the woman and told that she had taken his wallet by mistake, and she came back to Dadar to return it.

They demand Rs 30K that Soni had borrowed from them. They force him on to a bike and ride off with him. Friend informs Soni's brother
An officer said, "When Soni was standing by the road looking for a taxi to flag down for the woman, three people came from behind and started beating him up. They thrashed him with their bare hand and legs and while hitting him demanded Rs 30,000 that Soni had apparently borrowed from them."
Soni's friend told the police that he had borrowed the money last year but it was only Rs 20,000 and the people hitting him said they had added Rs 10,000 as interest. The woman, too, tried to stop the group from beating up Soni, but they ignored her pleas. They then forced Soni on to a bike and rode off with him.
Soni's brother informs crime branch, who later contact kidnappers pretending to be a family member. Cops nab accused at meeting spot
The woman then contacted Soni's brother, who called the people who had kidnapped him and told them he would return the money if they released Soni. They refused to oblige saying they would release him only when they saw the money.
The scared family then contacted the crime branch, who later contacted the kidnappers pretending to be a family member. When the kidnappers came to meet the 'family member' thinking he had brought the cash, they immediately nabbed them and rescued Soni.
The police have booked the kidnappers under sections of the Indian Penal Code. The kidnappers have been identified as Shashikant Jaiswal, Jagan Boyar and Ankur Yadav. Police are also searching for other accused who were part of the group thrashing Soni at Dadar.
