The accused was on the run since June 21 after he allegedly molested the victim in front of her grandmother at St George hospital
The MRA Marg police yesterday arrested from Kolkata a doctor from CST’s St George Hospital, who was absconding since June 21 after it was alleged that he had molested a 14-year-old.

“We have arrested Dr Akshay Ahirrao. He was produced in court where he was remanded in police custody till August 7,” said Senior Inspector Ashok Jagdale, MRA Marg police station.
On June 21, the 14-year-old girl had come to St George Hospital to be treated for high fever, accompanied by her grandmother.
Ahirrao called her in his room for a check-up and allegedly began to molest the teenager in front of her grandmother. The incident left the grandmother in shock forcing her to be admitted to the ICU ward of the hospital.
The girl’s relative then approached the MRA Marg police, who filed a molestation charge, and later a rape charge against him. Following the incident, he was also dismissed from the hospital and had been absconding. Sources also revealed that Ahirrao tried to flee the country on June 29.
The hospital’s superintendent Dr J B Bhawani said, “The court rejected Ahirrao’s anticipatory bail plea and the police arrested him.u00a0
