A 66-year-old woman from Democratic Republic of the Congo was found dead under mysterious circumstances at an inn in Lajpat Nagar area of southeast Delhi on Wednesday morning. The respective embassy called the cops and asked them to conduct her postmortem at AIIMS to rule out any foul play.

A police official said that the cause of death is yet to be ascertained. He added that the deceased has been identified as Mukuna Majangi, and she was staying in Amby Inn at Lajpat Nagar. The body was discovered by the victim's friend Animany Kakienge, who rushed her to AIIMS where she was declared brought dead. Police were reported about the incident at around 8:30 am by the hospital staff.

"Mukuna is a resident of Democratic Republic of the Congo from Africa. She was asthmatic. She came to India on June 1 on medical visa and had been living in Amby Inn since then. She was reportedly undergoing treatment for an unknown ailment in a private hospital in Karol Bagh. But when her condition worsened she approached AIIMS for treatment," said a police official.

The official said that Animany used to meet the deceased daily. On Wednesday when she went to meet her at the inn, found the room door ajar and Mukuna was. Animany took her to AIIMS but she was declared brought dead. "Her postmortem has been conducted at AIIMS and we are awaiting the autopsy report. Animany dead body will be sent to Africa by air on Thursday," added the senior police official. In another case, a 35-year-old doctor, an Afghan national, was found dead at his rented accommodation in Bindapur area of south-west district on Wednesday night. According to the police officials the deceased was identified as a Salamat Ali, resident of Kabul Afghanistan and was residing in a rented accommodation in Bindapur.

Police has ruled out any foul play and said the cause of death would be ascertained after the post-mortem examination.
