A 21-year-old girl was found murdered in a hotel in Santacruz (West) late in the evening yesterday. It is suspected that a male friend who came to meet her strangulated her to death.

The deceased, identified as Rachida Suratwala, had checked into Hotel Milan International at 3 pm yesterday, along with another female relative.
The girl, who is a resident of Golibar in Santacruz (East), had told her parents that she was going out for a relative’s wedding.
Her friend, identified only as Shaikh, arrived at the hotel and the girl’s relative went down to the hotel’s lobby.
Three hours later, when Shaikh left the place, the girl’s relative went up to her room and found her lying motionless on the bed.
The hotel management was called, who then informed the Santacruz police. Her body was taken to Cooper Hospital for post-mortem and her family members were intimated.
The Santacruz police have registered a case of murder and are searching for Shaikh. The Crime Branch is also conducting investigations simultaneously.u00a0
