A senior police official from K G Halli police station, said, "We have not been able to identify the watchman yet, nor do we know how he died. It's possible that he was forced to drink excessively by students. Presently we have no information."
Parveena Taj, one of the residents, complained that she and her family were woken up by loud music and the commotion of the students having a party. She said, "When we came out to ask the students to turn down the music, they got very agitated and used foul language. They also threatened to kill us like they killed the watchman."
Another resident, Shamir Pasha, said, "They have always been noisy, but today they got out of hand. When we threatened to call the police, they retaliated by throwing bottles." Meanwhile, the body of the watchman was taken to Ambedkar Medical College for an autopsy. No arrests were made at the time of going to press, but residents of the area accompanied police to the station to file complaints.
