Neither the Pakistani embassy nor any NGO wants to conduct last rites of the two Pakistanis gunned down on January 25

The bodies of the two Pakistani militants gunned down on Sunday in an encounter with the Uttar Pradesh cops are lying unclaimed in a mortuary at Sector 94, Noida.
"No one from the Pakistani embassy has turned up to claim responsibility. They don't want to dispose off the bodies. We are clueless about what to do. We will have to preserve the bodies in the mortuary till someone claims them," said a senior Noida police official, requesting anonymity. But this is not a startling fact considering that the bodies of the terrorists killed in the Mumbai attacks are still being preserved by the police even after two months of their death. The Muslim community there had said it would not allow them to be buried in their graveyards.
"Though there are some NGOs which perform the final rites of unclaimed bodies, none of them are helping us this time. Ultimately, we will have to pressurise them to take charge," added the Noida police official.
Ashok Chandra, coordinator of Noida Lok Manch, one such NGO, said, "The issue is very sensitive. As the deceased were terrorists it is difficult for us to claim their bodies."
Meanwhile, Noida Chief Medical Superintendent Renu Srivastava said, "The bodies are still lying at the Sector-94 mortuary. We will have to preserve them till we receive further instructions from the police."
