Nod for new flyover in Hadapsar

Hundredsu00a0of motorists who encounter traffic snarls every day in Hadapsar have reason to rejoice as the City Improvements Committee (CIC) of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has given a preliminary approval to a parallel flyover near Vahan Tal.

The rationale is to ease the traffic flow that enters the city through Saswad. The CIC has sought a detailed project report (DPR) for the flyover, which is estimated to cost around Rs 24.99 crore. Additional City Engineer Srinivas Bonala said the PMC was planning two bridges, one from Saswad towards the city and the other from the city towards Saswad.

There already exists a flyover near the Hadapsar police station on Solapur Road. Vehicles coming from Saswad cause traffic jams below the flyover, leading to massive bottlenecks on the entire road since another flyover is being constructed at the Mundhwa junction near Nobel Hospital on the road.

If the new flyover is built, the vehicles coming from Saswad will not cause jams on the Solapur Road, making it easy for the traffic entering the main city from outside. According to officials from the Hadapsar traffic division, around 2,000 vehicles touch the Solapur Road via the Saswad Road during peak hours.

Police Sub-Inspector A S Sakhe from the Hadapsar traffic division said, "The proposed flyover will be a good development since vehicles coming from Saswad will directly climb on the bridge keeping the Solapur Road free."
