If Raavan made you laugh and Golmaal 3 made you weep, here's your chance to get back at them. The Indian version of the Razzies, the Golden Kela Awards, is urging you to vote for the worst films and performances of the year. In contention? Filmfare Best Actor winner Shah Rukh Khan, Imran Khan for not one, but two sorry capers -- Break Ke Baad and I Hate Luv Storys, and Priyanka Chopra for Anjaana Anjaani. Drumroll, please.
Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra in a still from Anjaana Anjaani.
Chopra, who received the National Award in 2008 for her performance
in Fashion, has been nominated for the Worst Actress Award
In its third year, the Golden Kela awards, organised by humour magazine, Random, will be hosted by funnyman Cyrus Broacha, whose simple explanation for taking on the mantle is that he owes money to the organisers.
The eagerly awaited winners this year though, are those of the Special Awards category. Don't tell us you are not dying to know who wins the Jajantram Mamantram Award for Worst Named Film, the Black Award for Emotional Blackmail and the Sonu Nigam Award for Career Suicide. We'll be holding our breath till March 2.
In the final analysis, we're baffled by the absence of Abhishek Bachchan in the Worst Actor nominations. That over-the-top Beera act in Raavan still gives us the chills. Plus, Junior B is the only one with the sense of humour to actually accept a Golden Kela Award -- at the 2nd Golden Kela Awards, he accepted the Dara Singh Award for Worst Accent for his attempt to reproduce an American accent in Delhi 6. Just for that, we love you Abhishek!
