A 24-year-old man was mowed down by a speeding PMPML busy at a busy junction near the Poolgate police chowky yesterday. Gurbind Singh, a resident of Dhankawari, succumbed to his injuries while being taken to the nearby Usha Nursing Home. The body has been sent to Sassoon hospital for post-mortem. Singh, a student, was on his two-wheeler going towards Camp from MG Road when he was hit by the speeding bus.u00a0The accident occurred around 3pm. Local residents took Singh to the hospital.
Sachin Navale, a tailor, who was on the spot, said, "Most PMPL bus drivers drive rashly and do not maintain lane discipline." The driver, Dayanand Mahadev Rao Gaikwad (39), has been arrested by the Cantonment police, but no complaint has been registered yet. PSI KS Chauhan, the investigating officer, said they were awaiting the post-mortem report before registering a case against the driver.
