Paradh gains as multiplexes get serious about Marathi films rule

Paradh has become the first Marathi film to benefit from a stringent directive to multiplexes by Home Minister R R Patil. The government has made 180 shows of Marathi films compulsory in a year.






Directed by Gajendra Ahire, 'Paradh' is a political thriller starring Makarand Anaspure, Siddharth Jadhav, Vinay Apte, Vrinda Gajendra and Hemangi Kavi.

Two other Marathi movies, Mani Mangalsutra andu00a0 Sa Sasucha will also benefit by the directive. The home department imposed a fine of Rs 1.5 lakh on Gold Big in the city for violating the rule set by Bombay Entertainment Tax Act 1923. The move came after multiplex ownersu00a0 recently received flak from the Shiv Sena and the MNS for not showing Marathi films.

Prakash Chaphalkar, Partner Mangala Multiplex in the city and secretary of State Multiplex Owners Association, said the stringent rules would certainly help Marathi cinema.
