The cloud of controversy hovering over the Vyyalikaval House Building Co-operative Society has triggered a wave of panic amongst plot owners, who are rushing to the police to save their assets.

The society has been in the news again recently for allegedly allotting plots to relatives of judges.

ARK Rao, a professor with the Indian Institute of Science has filed a complaint with the KG Halli police alleging that land grabbers are trying to usurp his daughter's plot by creating fake documents, Rao, who is heading the civil engineering division in IISc, said his daughter Sirisha has purchased a site (no.

452) at Vyyalikaval house building co-operative society at Nagavara. Sirisha has been paying her taxes regularly and has all the essential documents in her name to prove legal ownership.

So far, the society has not handed over plots to the owners since formalities are still pending on developmental works.
The professor said that his daughter has not gone ahead with any construction activities, nor has she raised a compound wall around her plot because of the delays.
"This has led to anti-social elements attempting to grab the plot by creating fake documents," he said.
Rao came to know that people were encroaching on his daughter's plot. Upon enquiry, a group at the spot said that they were simply checking the dimensions of the plot since the owner had offered to sell it to them.
Though Rao informed them that the plot belonged to his daughter and it was not for sale, a person introducing himself as Dhanraj, insisted that the plot belonged to a certain Srinivas, who offered it up for sale.

"I managed to collect details related to Srinivas and filed a complaint on September 17," Rao added.
The KG Halli police have registered a complaint, but during preliminary investigations, the cops were unable to find evidence of attempts by the alleged person to sell the plot.
"I think the complaint was merely based on rumours, which triggered panic among the members," said Inspector N H Siddappa.
Meanwhile, Rao admitted to filing a complaint based on the police version. "I wanted to alert the system in order to prevent such activities from happening.
I have not only filed a complaint with the police, but also alerted the BDA and jurisdictional Sub-registrar office through letters, so that they are cautious with sale and purchase related to the Vyyalikaval society,"
he added.
