A roadside vendor in Kasewadi slums, Bhavani Peth, was allegedly attacked by two other vendors at 11 pm over a past rivalry. Fahim Chote Kureshi (25) sustained injuries on the neck and was admitted to Sassoon Hospital, last night.

Kureshi's sister, Amana, who accompanied him to the hospital, said, "We shifted to Pune from Kolhapur recently after my brother developed a rivalry with the two attackers." She added that they came to the city looking for her brother and attacked him last night.

According to Amana, her brother and a person called Swami had developed a dispute and he forced Kureshi to leave Kolhapur.

The hospital is treating the case as a medico-legal one.
