Singh said Shanky guarded his house everyday. "On 11 October, when we woke up, we could neither find him nor the chain he was tied with. There was a piece of biscuit near the gate, which suggests he was kidnapped by some pet trainer. We immediately got a police case registered," said Singh.
"We love our dog like a child. We take him everywhere we go. I have also announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh, hoping someone will bring it back to us," he added.
This is not the first time that a pedigree dog has been kidnapped from in Noida. According to a veterinarian, the kidnappers keep a lookout for exotic breeds. They then kidnap the pets, illegally breed them and sell the offsprings.
Canine conundrum
In 2009, a Noida-based industrialist, Krishnan, had also issued an advertisement regarding a "sizeable" reward for anyone who helped find his dog. The family, residents of Sector 33, claimed the dog was snatched while the family's household help, Rupatan, was walking it near Rockwood School in the area. The help claimed two youths approached him and asked him to hand over the dog. "I refused, but then two other boys came out of a white car, snatched the leash and shoved the dog inside," he said.u00a0 In another incident nearly a year ago, three-year-old Labrador Bucknor was out for a walk when he was abducted in a white Maruti Swift. Chhote Lal, servant at the house, chased after the car and as he reached near the vehicle, one of the occupants hit him. Vishal Sharma, owner of the dog and a resident of Sector 23, works as a consultant with a blood bank. An avid cricket lover, he had named his pet after the former West Indies umpire, known for his incisive decisions.
