Conductor asks driver to take bus straight to police chowky after passenger tells him his wallet is missing

Au00a0pickpocket was caught when the conductor of a bus asked the driver to take the vehicle straight to a police chowky upon being told by an MBA aspirant that his wallet, which had Rs 40,000 in it, had been pinched.
MBA aspirant Mohammed Mubarak Hussein (25) did not lose his wits when he realised his wallet containing the money he had to pay as fees for his master's course was missing as he travelled by the bus on July 28.
Quick-witted student
According to the Wanowrie police, Hussein, a resident of Ambegaon, was going from Bharati Vidyapeeth to Camp to pay his fees for the MBA course at Azam Campus. His wallet was in his front pocket. As the bus moved past Golibar Maidan, Hussein realised his wallet was gone.
Hussein wasted no time in approaching the bus conductor, who diverted the bus to the Wanowrie Bazar Chowky.
At the chowky, the police told passengers no one was to get off the bus, but the pickpocket managed to escape inu00a0the ensuing chaos.
Never say die
But Hussein was not to be beaten so easily. He told the police that he had noticed a person clad in white next to him, but could not see him anywhere now.
The police combed the area and a man matching the description given by Hussein was arrested near Big Bazar in Fatima Nagar in two hours.
The police identified the arrested man as Vinod Valja Gadda (30), hailing from Ulhasnagar but currently residing at Keshav Nagar in Mundhwa, and recovered the Rs 40,000 from him.
PSI Sachin Patil, Constable S G Salwane, ASI M V Javanjal and S T Shete arrested Gadda.
"At first he denied the theft, but later confessed to the crime," said Patil.
