Winner of the Kumar Gandharva Award and Grammy nominee musician Ranendranath Majumdar aka Ronu Majumdar needs no introduction. The ace flutist is performing this Sunday in the city and has some special compositions in mind for the city audiences.
His list of achievements includes performances at prestigious venues such as The Kremlin, Moscow, The Palais de Beaux Arts, Brussels and so on.
"I will play some very special morning ragas created by my grand guru Pandit Ravi Shankar. They have a peaceful spiritual element to them that everyone can enjoy," he states. Majumdar makes it a point to perform in Pune at least four to five times a year. "Pune is very special to me. Pandit Jasraj had also praised the audience over here saying, Pune ne jisko man liya, duniya ne usko jan liya (The one whom the audience of Pune has chosen is a real performer per se)," he grins. He adds that while performers may have to take resort to cheap gimmicks at some places, this place requires no such thing.
At: YB Chavan Auditorium, Kothrud.
