The bomb was categorised as a 'tiffin bomb', and was found on a road in a jungle pocket in Raipur district, about 150 km from capital Raipur. Police blamed Maoists guerrillas who are active in the area for placing the bomb in order to target policemen.
"The bomb was recovered by a search squad of policemen who urgently defused it," a senior official here at police headquarters told IANS. He added that more policemen were sent to the area to find out more such bombs if any.
Maoists had attacked a police squad in the same area Wednesday in which two Special Task Force jawans were seriously injured.
