One of the four men accused of assaulting Kabir Memon is a Pune Cantonment Board corporator; doctors say his condition is serious
Kabir Memon, a 38-year-old "friend of the police" was yesterday admitted to Sassoon General Hospital with serious head and body injuries after he was allegedly assaulted by four people belonging to the notorious Patel Company near the Char Bowdi police chowkie.

The FIR
An FIR was lodged after Memon, a police informer, was admitted around 9.15 pm, according to Inspector Deepak Umbare.
A relative of Memon, who was there at the site of the attack, said, "Manju Sheikh, Sadiq Shaikh, Faiyyaz Sheikh and Adnan Sheikh attacked Memon with choppers and hammers."
Manju is the corporator of Pune Cantonment Board, ward no 8 of the Shivaji market area.

Under observation
"The doctors have said that Memon's condition is serious," said the relative.
Umbare added, "An injured Memon was brought to the police station in an autorickshaw. We do not know the details, as we had to rush to the hospital first."
The Patel Company is allegedly involved in anti-national activities. An attempt to murder FIR under section 307 has been registered against the four men.
