Thugs strike at Kirti Nagar police station. Similar incident occurred a month ago too

It's not everyday that a police station registers a complaint of being robbed of in their premise. The Kirti Nagar police station in west Delhi is no exception.

On February 5, a motorcycle and a wireless kept inside a parked two-wheeler was stolen from the station itself. According to the police, the incident took place when the head constable Naresh Kumar had parked his motorcycle inside the police station while on night duty. Also, the wireless set that was left behind in the two-wheeler was stolen.

The incident came into light when Kumar found out that the motorcycle was missing in the morning. He immediately informed his officials and then a search was conducted in the area but nothing could be traced.
The police said that losing a wireless set was a security issue and anyone can misuse it.

"The police official is under suspension. By leaving the wireless set in the vehicle, he has shown his callous attitude towards work. It is a serious offence and a departmental enquiry has been set up. We have also been interrogating a few suspects to trace the vehicle and the wireless set," said a senior police official.

Sources said that this was not the first time that a theft had taken place. Some months ago, a daily dairy register of the police station was stolen as well.
