Civic officials visited the bakery site to check on documents and construction; asked new owners to submit remaining documents soon to reopen on time
A day after the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) declared that they might not allow the German Bakery to re-open, civic officials visited the Bakery yesterday morning to check on the construction and documents. Officials had made it clear to the owners not to open the bakery to the public without all papers and clearances. On the other hand, the owners of the bakery claim to have all documents ready and are confident of reopening the bakery in the presence of Deputy CM Ajit Pawar in a few days.

“The owners have many documents, but supporting documents haven’t yet been submitted to the PMC, so we have asked them to wait for a few days,” said Jayant Sarvade, executive engineer, Building and Permission, who visited the bakery with his staff and observed the internal renovation work. “We are not against the reopening of German Bakery, but are making sure that all legal procedure have been taken care of. We are also checking RCC work and the possibility of any violation regarding FSI while making internal changes and parking arrangements.
The owners have not yet submitted the Structure Stability Report (SSR) even though they have a stay order from the court that rules over PMC’s notice on stop work. In addition to that, we are checking the latest on court matters over the transfer of ownership of the bakery,” he added.
“We are in possession of our own SSR made by the Public Works Department (PWD) after the structure was strengthened by our experts,” said Rajan Udane, new owner of the bakery. “We also have the new copy of completion of repair work on January 9, 2013.
There is no violation of any construction norms regarding the parking as well. We will be submitting all these documents to the PMC in two days. FDA’s Food Safety and Standard Certificate has already been submitted. Apart from that, the city police has given the go-ahead following fulfilment of certain security measures and conditions.” u00a0
