Public transport vehicles go off the roads in Mizoram

All public transport vehicles in Mizoram went off the road today due to indefinite strike called by Mizoram Commercial Vehicles Joint Action Committee (MCVJAC)

Public transport vehicles go off the roads in Mizoram

Aizawl: All public transport vehicles in Mizoram went off the road today due to indefinite strike called by Mizoram Commercial Vehicles Joint Action Committee (MCVJAC).


Owners of vehicles, including taxi, bus, maxicab and truck are demanding reduction of road tax and abolition of life-time tax for 15 years on all vehicles. They are also demanding increase in city bus fares.


Government buses and staff buses of several departments are plying to maintain normalcy in public transport services in the state capital, officials said.


Opposition Mizo National Front (MNF) and Mizoram People's Conference (MPC) are supporting the strike.
