Hrushikesh Joshi, a young lyricist, is the only candidate from the city to be selected for commission in the Indian Navy under the University Entry Scheme (UES). “Like other engineering students, I didn’t want to do MS or MBA and get a lucrative job in a multinational company. After SSC, I decided to join the defense services because one can contribute to the country. It is a great feeling and privilege to be part of the defense services,” Hrushikesh said.

He has written a song for an upcoming movie ‘It’s too much’ and is also writing for Marathi plays. Hrishikesh is also fond of acting and singing and has been an active participant at state level competitions and has also received prizes for acting.

“I started to write professionally and another Hindi film is in the pipeline. I know, after joining the Navy, I wouldn’t be able to write professionally, but I want to do specialization in Navy Aviation and I am ready for sacrifices,” Hrushikesh said.
Hrushikesh’s father Hanumant Joshi is the principal of Junior College in the city, while his mother, Mangal Joshi, is a lecturer (Tutor) with Nursing College of B J Medical.

Hrushikesh has been selected for the general service (Executive Branch) and is required to report to INS-Zamorin at Ezhimala (Kerala) on June 23, where he will receive basic training for 22 weeks, followed by specialized training.

“Under the UES, a student can directly go for SSB selection and need not attempt the CDS exam. This year round, around 250 students attempted under UES, in which only I got
selected from the city,” Hrushikesh said.u00a0
