To reduce workload and facilitate people residing in the suburbs, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) will be establishing four new branches at different locations in the city.
Tests and issuance of learning licences would be the only business conducted at the new branches.u00a0

Project approved
“The project has been approved by the state government and the process of land acquisition in Katraj and Baner is in its final stage. At Baner, all the formalities related to land acquisition are almost done. We require at least an acre of land for setting up the new sub-RTO. Also, we require Rs 25 to Rs 30 lakh for establishing each of the new branches,” Regional Transport Officer Arun Yeola said.
The RTO already owns plots of land in Hadapsar and Mohammadwadi. Shiv Sena MLA Mahadev Babar from Hadapsar assured funds for the new branches.
Just for learners
Only those procedures that are related to learning licences will be looked into at the new branches, for which they will remain open for just two days a week.
“We cannot work every day. There is no provision for extra staff at these branches. So we will send a few of our staff members to these branches. This will reduce the load on the main RTO and people from suburbs need not come here for securing learning licence.” Yeola said.u00a0
