According to police, the incident took place at Kolayat village in the district, some 300 km from Jaipur.

Agitated over poor power supply in their area, the residents of the village marched to the sub-station of Jaipur Vidhyut Vitaran Nigam.

"They started shouting slogans and damaged some property at the sub-station, following which the officials there informed us. A team was rushed to the sub-station," a police officer said.

However, as soon as the police team arrived at the spot, the villagers attacked them.

"Some villagers used iron rods to hit the three constables. They sustained injuries on head, legs and other parts of the body. Two policemen left the sub-station and informed senior police officers, who sent additional men. The injured policemen were rushed to a hospital," said the officer.

The additional police force dispersed the crowd and rounded up some villagers.

"We have registered first information report (FIR) against several villagers," said the officer.u00a0
