Pregnant woman assaulted on the pretext of marriage

A 28-year-old woman was allegedly raped in the servant quarters at a Congress Member of Parliament's bungalow on Janpath in New Delhi.

A senior police officer said that the victim, Neha (name changed) is four months pregnant and she was being repeatedly raped by the accused, Kimod Kumar Raju, on the pretext of marriage. Raju is employed as a peon at Nirman Bhavan with a government department.

Neha lives in bungalow number 7B, Janpath while the accused Raju lives in the 7A, Janpath. Both have known to each other for quite a long time.

In her complaint to the police, Neha alleged that Raju had been having sex with her and promised that he would marry her. But later refused.

"Neha came to know about her pregnancy only recently. She told her family and when they asked Raju, he refused to marry her. They lodged a police complaint at the Chanakyapuri Police Station," a senior police officer said.

The accused has been arrested and sent to judicial custody.Bungalow number 7B at Janpath belongs to Congress MP G Venkataswamy.


Gangrape Accused Nabbed

Two persons were arrested on September 19 after they allegedly gangraped a 20-year-old woman in southwest Delhi and kept her confined for over 24 hours. The accused were identified as Manish, 26, and Rijnesh, 42. Manish had reportedly struck up a friendship with the victim in a discotheque at Vasant Vihar a week prior to the incident. A case of forceful confinement and rape has been registered in the Dwarka north police station. Manish had allegedly picked up the girl from her residence on Saturday in Dwarka where she lives alone. He had then taken her to Rijnesh's residence in his car to Dwarka sector 16 where they had allegedly locked her inside the house and raped her. Her mobile phone was forcibly taken away from her. However, on Sunday afternoon, she managed to call the PCR through her mobile. Police arrested the duo immediately.
Police said Manish is a resident of Najafgarh in southwest Delhi and a property dealer by profession. Rijnesh runs a small business of repairing photostat machines. The victim studies in DU through the distance education mode.
