Veteran cartoonist R K Laxman celebrated his 92nd birthday in the city yesterday. Pic/Krunal Gosavi While Laxman&rsquo;s birthday celebration was a low-key affair, it became a memorable one as his well-wishers shared their experiences with the Padma Vibhushan awardee. Commenting on their bond, Laxman&rsquo;s wife Kamala said, &ldquo;Our relationship has changed with time. Ever since he entered his nineties, I have to look after him like a small baby. It&rsquo;s normal for us when he calls me amma (chuckles). I have enjoyed my journey with him a lot and hope to continue it till the time we can.&rdquo;u00a0Laxman&rsquo;s friend and former state information commissioner Vijay Kuvalekar was all praises for the artist. Reminiscing the old days when the two travelled extensively throughout the country, Kuvalekar said, &ldquo;As far as my memory goes, Laxman has always been a simple man who likes to spend time with commoners. He values them and treats them as equal. I remember an incident from the past wherein the organisers of his event had checked him into a five-star hotel, while his driver was stationed elsewhere. When he couldn&rsquo;t find his driver, he asked about his whereabouts. When they told him that the driver&rsquo;s arrangements had been done somewhere else, he promptly asked the organisers to have the driver stay with him. He even offered to pay for the driver&rsquo;s stay.&rdquo; u00a0
