A man accused of theft was thrashed to death by residents of Ekta Nagar in Kandivli in the wee hours of Saturday. The Kandivli police have arrested two residents of the area Sandesh Patil (27) and Rahul Paul (22) and detained another two on the charges of murder
According to the police, they received a call informing them about a man who was lying injured in the middle of the road at Ekta Nagar area in Kandivli (west). When police officials rushed on the spot, they found an unknown man in a pool of blood. Police took him BMC run Bhagwati hospital where he was declared dead before admission.

u00a0“We identified him through a tattoo on his hand ‘Mahendra.’ His full name is Mahendra Meena, is a resident of Malvani.
We also recovered an instrument used to break locks and latches in his hand. We have arrested two accused, who also have an earlier criminal record. The investigation is on,” said an officer from Kandivli police station.
During investigation, police found that the two accused Patil were standing outside their house. Around 2am, they spotted Meena and interrupted him. When Meena failed to give satisfactory answers, they searched him and found house breaking instruments in his possession. Getting suspicious of Meena’s intentions, the two began to beat him up.
