If you're on old Airport Road, there are plenty of options to grab a quick bite in-between work or at lunch hour.
The car hood atop the all-new Bonnie & Clyde beckoned us to check out what's different and we gave in. The restaurant, an inspiration from Penn's masterpiece, which was nominated for ten Academy awards is blatant from the film posters on the red walls brandished all over.u00a0
u00a0The cute little eatery has done wonders with its interiors, but does it score well on what it is here for?
Sandwiched between already-established BJN Group of Hotels' Bombay Post, Indi Joe and TGIF could either be a boon (because the crowds might spill over) or a bane (due to inevitable comparisons, although its quite unlikely). Tucked on the right side of the building, just before the Corner House, this filmy shack will help you transport your blues to an imaginary land, with Texas waitress Bonnie Parker (Faye Dunaway, at the peak of her hotness) and gun-toting hunk Clyde Barrow (Warren Beatty).
What's the film to do with the food, we wonder? It's probably the American connection.
The one-page menu is quite a downer for the growling-belly times and you wish there was more apart from the sandwiches and burgers. The Roasted Chicken Sandwich (Rs 110) with slices of roasted chicken layered between tomato and greens was bland and the chicken cold and chewy. The Chicken Nuggets (Rs 75) called the Texan Gold here were tasty on the bite, but they could have done with less batter on the coating. For veggie lovers, there's Veggie Sourdough Fritters, which was marinated veggies draped with sour dough, deep-fried, which went well with the Creamy Outlaws. There's also a choice of salads like Summer of 63 with blackened Chicken Strips and Chicken Salad with Caesar dressing. I ordered the Lemon Ice Tea (Rs 35) and when my companion wanted the Mojito Mirage from the menu, there was none available.u00a0
u00a0It's the burgers which rule the roost here and their big sizes could well be fit for Bonnie and Clyde in-between their bank robbing sprees. The Grilled Lamb Burger (Rs 165) I had was spicy and juicy burger filled generously with a lamb cutlet. There are not many dessert options here. We picked the Chocolate Mousse (Rs 60), as it was the only one available on the day we dropped by.
This chic new bistro might woo the regular diners around the area, only if the owners spruce up and add on some more to chew on the menu.
