Atul Singh, a Class XI student of Saint Gabriel School at Ranjhi near here, took the step after he was scolded by Principal George Joseph for some wrongdoing in the classroom, City Superintendent of Police Guruprasad Parasher said.
Singh, who received injuries in his hands and feet, has been hospitalised. Police have started investigation in the case, he said. Following the incident, suspected Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) activists ransacked the school. The principal could not be contacted despite repeated attempts.
