Security beefed up at airport as Republic-Day nears

As Republic Day is round the corner, security at the Indian Air Force-governed Lohegaon International Airport has been strengthened. This is a part of their exercise ahead of January 26, where important security strategies are being carried out.


Some of the measures that have been put in place include not allowing visitors inside the premises, CISF jawans checking the parking area every night, checking of vehicles found parked for long, conducting surveillance of baggage sent by cargo, among others.u00a0




He further adds that overnight parking has also been stopped. "Baggage which land from the cargo are also under strict surveillance. We are keeping a track of them till they are sent to their destinations."

These measures are part of the security measures laid out by the civil aviation ministry.

Newly joined airport director, PSRK Sudhakar, said, "The time frame between January 15-26 is a sensitive period and we have to follow the security measures. Barring entry of visitors inside the premises is also one of the important measures we have taken as a part of these security measures."
