The Sensex, which opened lower by 42 points, recovered by 54.95 points at 8,998.49 at 1230 hrs with stocks of the metal and realty sectors trading in positive territory.
Similarly, the broad-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty rose by 20.05 points to 2,797.30 at the same time.
