The former Union Minister supported Prime Minister Narendra Modi's policy on Pakistan, terming it "proper".
Swamy criticised West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over the violence in Malda district and said Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh should write a letter to her and seek explanation over the issue.
Swamy was in the city to deliver a lecture, organised by 175-year-old 'Sarvajanik Wachanalaya' (a public library), on the topic "India yesterday, today and tomorrow". He also interacted with members of Laghu Udyog Bharati, a body of small scale industries and other local entrepreneurs.
