Reasons ranged from financial burden to a friend turning down an invitation. Victims included a debt-ridden family of three

Six persons, including three of a family, have allegedly committed suicide in the Capital in four separate incidents since Wednesday.

The first incident was reported from Subhash Nagar area of west Delhi, where a 60-year-old debt-ridden businessman took his own life by hanging himself, while his 50-year-old wife and 19-year-old daughter ended their lives by slitting their wrists.

Suicide note
The deceased left a suicide note behind, in which he has asked for his family's forgiveness. Additional CP (west) V Ranganathan said the family might have taken the extreme step on Wednesday night itself. The incident, however, was reported around 8:40 am on Thursday morning. The deceased were identified as Vijay Kumar Sharma, his wife Veena and their daughter Sonia.

"Vijay had a business of car accessories in Gurgaon and he also lived in the area with his family. His only son, Sandeep alias Sunny, had been living separately for the last two years since his marriage. His foster sister Mamta also lived in the neighbourhood.

To run his business, he had taken a huge loan. He, however, suffered losses and was unable to repay his due. The financiers were threatening him with dire consequences. Due to these circumstances, Sharma had been suffering from depression as well. Ranganathan said on Thursday morning, a relative of the deceased came to visit him. He knocked on the door but when no one came he got suspicious and called landlord of the deceased. The landlord then made a call to PCR.

"Police broke open the door to find Vijay hanging from the ceiling and his daughter lying on the bed in a pool of blood. His wife's body was found in another room of the house. The bodies have been sent to DDU hospital for post-mortem. One of their relatives will come from Dubai after which the post-mortem will be conducted," said the additional CP.u00a0"I am your guilty. I could not fulfill your wishes. Pardon me Mamta (his foster sister)," read his suicide note.

Pain of rejection
Meanwhile, in the second incident reported from Narela of outer Delhi, A 27-year-old businessman allegedly shot himself after his female friend refused to accompany him to his home. The deceased has been identified as Aman Singh.

Reportedly, Singh went to the rented accommodation of his friend, who is a 40-year-old widow, this morning and asked her to accompany him to his house, but she refused. She then called her landlord Suresh Chand to resolve the issue and angry over this, Singh first opened fire in the air and then shot himself, a senior police official said. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. Police recovered six live cartridges from the house. Singh and the woman, who were both from Amritsar, had been friends for a long time.

Victim of depression
In yet another incident, 33-year-old Rajat Nagpal allegedly committed suicide by inflicting injuries on his body with a blade at his residence in Rani Bagh. Nagpal, who worked at a consultancy firm, was undergoing treatment for depression for the last 10 years. He also suffered from eye-sight-related problems.

"He went to the washroom in his house on the pretext of shaving. But when he did not come out for a long time, a family member went in to check and found him lying in a pool of blood," the official said. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. He did not leave behind any suicide note.

In the fourth incident that took place in Sultanpuri area of outer Delhi a 50-year-old woman was found hanging from the ceiling of her home yesterday evening. A senior police official said the deceased, identified as Emrati Devi, was concerned about the marriage of her daughters.

"She had six daughters but due to financial reasons, she was unable to get any ofu00a0 them married. Due to this she was depressed. The police did not recover any suicide note," said the police official.
