New Delhi: Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi on Thursday celebrated Holi at the party headquarters in New Delhi, the first such occasion in the past few decades.

The party president and vice president were at 24 Akbar Road, the party headquarters, for about 15 minutes. Women activists of the party offered flowers to the two leaders at a brief function. Some party workers applied gulal on them.

Several party leaders, including AICC treasurer Motilal Vora, former Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit, Delhi PCC chief Ajay Maken, party spokespersons Randeep Surjewala, Sandeep Dikshit and Meem Afzal, were present on the occasion.
Since the debacle in the last Lok Sabha elections, Congress has been pro-active in sending out a message across the country that it cared for all communities, including the majority community.
"I convey my greetings to all people on the occastion of Holi. The festival of colours reflects the diversity in the country, which is a symbol of unity in diversity," he said in Hindi on Twitter. He replied in the affimative when asked whether he was extending the Holi greetings to the Prime Minister too.
"Of course, my greetings are to all."
